Souls Are Detaching explores the duality of self in the context of high-fashion, where models become vessels for designers’ visions, their identities often eclipsed by the garments they showcase. The project delves into the tension between the physical body and the emotional or spiritual self, reflecting a state of dissociation— autopilot on the runway. By using visual techniques such as diptychs to juxtapose the fragmented soul and body, the series highlights this sense of separation. The editing style amplifies this narrative: originally shot in black and white on film, the introduction of vivid red bursts elevates the emotional intensity. Motion blur and dynamic light streaks create an ethereal quality, as if the soul is slipping away, leaving behind a ghostly trace of presence. This interplay between identity and detachment underscores the performative, transient nature of the fashion world.
